About Kirk Allen Evans' Blog
I am an Architect Evangelist for Microsoft, focused on the Communications Sector vertical industry within North America. I talk to developers in wireline, wireless, satellite, and cable providers about developing solutions using Microsoft technology. I also work with Media & Entertainment companies (think broadcasters and theme parks).
The focus of my blog is largely SharePoint and web services. These are areas I am fairly passionate about, which is a good thing, because my customers are the ones that are leveraging web services the heaviest across all industries. Think about it: one huge telco buys another, you have to make their systems interact. The sheer size of the existing systems alone screams for service orientation to gain agility and breathe new life into existing solutions. SharePoint makes a natural interface to consume these services and provide an application platform for the enterprise.
Most of my posts are technical, mainly about XML and web services but including other technologies like Silverlight, AJAX, and VSTO programming. I also post about random stuff, from the Georgia Bulldogs to frying turkeys.
I love when people comment on my posts, so please do leave a comment if you find something useful, have a question, or want to hear more.
