VSTO 2005 SE Released

The latest version of VSTO (VSTO 2005 SE) is available for download. You can use VSTO 2005 SE to create add-ins for both Office 2003 and the 2007 Microsoft Office System.  VSTO 2005 SE helps you easily customize the new UI features of the 2007 Microsoft Office System, including the ribbon, the custom task pane and Outlook forms region. You do not need to have VSTO installed, in order to use VSTO 2005 SE -- it is an add-in for Visual Studio and you can use it on VSTO 2005 Professional edition.

This is a free download, and you can find it here:

# Cant find word 2007 Template/document in VSTO SE release

Hi,

I have downloaded and installed the VSTO SE from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5e86cab3-6fd6-4955-b979-e1676db6b3cb&displaylang=en

But it only provides the template for Infopath and all the add-ins. I am unable to find the template for other office 2007 application (Word 2007 etc.).

Can any one provide me a link or guide me how to install/develop so that i can create a project of word 2007 at document level using template (not at application level i.e. no add-ins).

Hi Vivek,

VSTO 2005 SE contains templates for Add-in projects only. If you want to create document-level customizations for Office 2003, you'll have to install VSTO 2005. Document-level customization for 2007 Office system won't be available until the next version of VSTO.

Hi Srichand,

You should try posting your question on the VSTO forum (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=16&SiteID=1). If you specify which version of Office you have installed, it will be helpful.

# VSTO

Hi

I have installed on my PC which is windows xp professional system, visual studio 2008 standard. Then I installed sp1 on ms-office 2003 pro. I also installed pia and vsto 2005.

I dont know much. But when I open the new project in VS 2008, the menu shows Visual Basic, Visual C++ etc but in the VB sub-menu no where office menu is available.

How to bring the office menu key there to open office project.

Hi Ranjit,

You cannot install VSTO 2005 SE into VS 2008. If you've installed the full version of VST0 2005, then you should open that to create the projects (not VS 2008).  If you're looking to build VSTO solutions in VS 2008, you'll need to install VS Professional (not Standard)

you mention that the "Document-level customization for 2007 Office system won't be available until the next version of VSTO". Do you know when the next version will be coming out?
