It will be either complementary or orthogonal, depending on your scenarios. It's a higher level programming model on top of activation mechanisms, possibly including MAF activation, COM, and simple CLR objects. MAF is a great technology for isolating AddIns from apps, and I see no reason to replace it.&lt;/p&gt;
