Microsoft is moving its Developer & IT Professional primary support content (also known as Knowledge Base – or KB - articles) from http://support.microsoft.com Web site to MSDN and TechNet, respectively. This move is to ensure that Developers and IT Professionals will see support information in the places they would most likely to be looking for it – and so that other, relevant or associated information can be more easily exposed alongside it.
With this shift, you’ll see a number of changes:
· All http://support.microsoft.com Web sites that provide support for IT Professionals and Developers will now be directed to MSDN or TechNet.
· The initial implementation begins on February 17, 2009 with the pilot launch of 20 support articles (KBs) in English and Japanese. When the team is satisfied that major search engines are picking up these changes in search results (which should be no later than February 28, 2009), we will than add more than 55,000 articles in Chinese-Traditional, Chinese-Simplified, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese-Brazil, Russian and Spanish.
· Security/hotfix articles will not move to MSDN and TechNet immediately, although all IT Professional and Developer content will eventually move to MSDN or TechNet.
The ability to search Premier Online, the MVP portal or PartnerSource/ CustomerSource does not change as a result of this change.

I’m really pleased to announce the last of the MSDN home/hub pages (the tabs) has been re-launched. The previous iteration was long neglected and nearly useless, while the community hub page highlights MSDN mentions via multiple social networks, highlights hand-selected MVP bloggers, and provides links to a mix of Microsoft and 3rd party community applications and websites.
This is just the first refresh for this and the other hub pages so keep checking back as we’ll be adding features and functionality and refining the layout on all the hub pages at a regular cadence.

As part of our ongoing site walk-though process, I’m pleased to announce the re-launch of several key developer entry pages:
· Learn
· Download
· Support
Each of these pages has been scrubbed for bad links and content, then laid out in a fashion that better informs and serves our customers.
Cheers,
kerby

I’m pleased to announce a refreshed MSDN homepage was launched Wednesday. This is the second significant update to the top-level pages in the last week all of which was made possible by Simon’s uncensored, customer-focused feedback during our first round of site walk-throughs. We are now exposing more important Microsoft bloggers, there is more content above the fold, we’re highlighting downloads that really matter and have freshened the iconography to not only be more helpful, but easier to look at. There are no less than 50 individual changes reflected on the new homepage.

You have got to check out the new MSDN Code Gallery announced today on Soma's blog. Today I added feeds from the MSDN Code Gallery to the Visual Basic and Visual C# Developer Centers. You can see these feeds right above the CodePlex feeds. These feeds are specific to the developer center language. By clicking “more..,” you can go and see the filtered list at the Code Gallery site. From the MSDN Code Gallery homepage you can navigate code samples via the tag cloud. Do you have any cool samples?

Beth is to this Developer center as James Brown was to rock and roll! Just released last week, two new videos in our “How Do I” series on the Visual Basic Developer Center homepage. This week, Beth is focused the Visual Basic 2008 Forms over Data Videos. These videos continue our series on data-based Windows Application development, now for Visual Basic 2008. Most of the previous 2005 videos are the same experience in Visual Basic 2008, but these videos will highlight the differences and new capabilities. You can find all the “forms” videos here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vbasic/bb466226.aspx#formsoverdata and the new 2008 versions at the bottom of the list.
