Personal hierarchical storage
An idle thought on a Friday afternoon while I wait for SpaceMonger to tell me the worst culprits for bulking out my HDD. What if there were a service running that archives files & folders you don't use frequently to “something” (ZIP format seems logical and perhaps easy enough) until you request them. It would then transparently pull them out of the archive and you'd be none the wiser. Sort of like hierarchical storage management, but on a single machine.
Thoughts? Does it already exist?
