Labs - STS

  • Announcing the Microsoft Live Labs Security Token Service

I am pleased to announce the availability of the Microsoft Live Labs Security Token Service @ http://sts.labs.live.com. Check out http://relay.labs.live.com for information about Microsoft Live Labs Relay Service which was also announced today.

The Microsoft Live Labs STS allows you to offload authentication functions. End users can use Microsoft codename "InfoCard" to register with the STS, and then sign into STS-registered web sites. Web sites and services can enable InfoCard-based sign in by registering with the STS and implementing a few simple web pages
. STS issues a SAML 1.1 token for registered users that can be used by registered web sites to accept STS authenticated users.

To try it out as an end user, you can register your "InfoCard" and check out the relay site download that is InfoCard sign in enabled.

To try it out as a site owner, you can download and install the Microsoft Live Labs STS SDK. The SDK includes the files for creating a sample ASP.NET 2.0 web site that is STS enabled
. Try these and more at http://sts.labs.live.com today!
