Deployment, the BioIT Alliance, and Social Networking

This is going to be an interesting week for this architect:

1. Hosting the first meeting of the Microsoft Pharmaceutical Deployment Users Group.

2. Hosting the first meeting of the BioIT Alliance

The PDUG (Pharma Deployment Users Group) is focused on developing best practices for deploying Microsoft technology in the Life Sciences enterprise.  The first topic will be on sharing information and learning about deploying SharePoint in regulated environments.  The question becomes “how can we (as an industry) develop common best practices”.

It’ll be interesting to see what comes out of this – and I will update this space with more information as it develops.

The BioIT Alliance is focused on developing techniques and standards for interoperability in the translational medicine space.  We have a great list of speakers and about 75 attendees.  It’ll be a dynamic time.  Again, more info forthcoming.

Finally, I wanted to make you aware of a blog post I put on my personal site.  I don’t often cross-post, but in this case the topic is “The Joys and Perils of Social Networking for the Road Warrior” and comes from personal experience.  Available at http://lesjordan.spaces.live.com
