Fresh Tutorial Fixes

We have made a number of corrections to the files contained in Tutorial_update.zip (attached). The corrections to these files should alleviate some of the problems you have had with Tutorials 2 and 3. To use the updated files, you must replace the correct existing file with the correct updated file.

  • OrderService.odx replaces c:\tutorial\solutions\BAS\OrderProcess\OrderProcess\ OrderService.odx
  • B2BOrchestrations_B2BProcess_ReceiveASN_Port.asmx.cs replaces c:\tutorial\solutions\B2BSolution\B2BOrchestrations_webservice\App_Code\B2BOrchestrations_B2BProcess_ReceiveASN_Port.asmx.cs
  • B2BOrchestrations_B2BProcess_ReceiveInvoice_Port.asmx.cs replaces c:\tutorial\solutions\B2BSolution\B2BOrchestrations_webservice\App_Code\B2BOrchestrations_B2BProcess_ReceiveInvoice_Port.asmx.cs
  • Setup.bat replaces c:\tutorial\solutions\B2BSolution\Setup.bat
  • ReplacePKToken.vbs replaces c:\tutorial\solutions\B2BSolution\ReplacePKToken.vbs

Additionally, there are some corrections I will make to the instructions which I will post an update for shortly. Planned changes include the following:

1. In Before You Begin the tutorials

  • Add a topic that lists the most recent updates
  • Improve Step 1: Install BizTalk Server 2006 for the tutorials so that it describes the platform used to test the tutorials. Also include any information about installing other editions of Visual Studio that I have.

2. In Tutorial 2

  • Remove Lesson 1, Step 2: Enable Web Service Publishing for Windows Server 2003 only.

3. In Tutorial 3

# re: Fresh Tutorial Fixes - Tutorial 3 Lesson 1 big picture

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could post a screenshot (.jpg or .doc file) of the whole diagram in the orchestration designer, showing what a correct diagram looks like, after Lesson 1 of Tutorial 3.

Try as I might to follow the Tutorial 3, I am still not sure that I understand a few things. The build is failing and I don't know why. A complete picture (or couple of sections which comprise the whole) would help to know if I've got the orchestration diagram set up correctly.

Specifically, I am having trouble with Lesson 1 Step 1 believe it or not.  Also, my port connections might not be correct in step 4 for some reason.  More & bigger pictures please!

Thanks for reading.

So, I've just got to ask this... where are the corrected BizTalk Server 2006 tutorials documents?  I just downloaded the tutorials this week (it's March 29, 2007 now) and they are still (apparently) the old, incorrect versions of the tutorials... as I'm having the same issues other that posted here are with Tutorial 3.

Thanks,

Mark

The most recent updates of the tutorials will always be in the refreshed BizTalk Server content -- http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3294ddaf-9f67-409f-a92d-2f6070dc0d1a&displaylang=en.

I've tried to keep the downloadable Word files updated as well, but it is a time-consuming manual process. We are working on developing a more automated solution for publishing printable files.

I had tried on the Tutorial 3-> Lesson 1, but experienced an error in Port for Request-Response. In assigning the port, we cannot create new type. Instead, we must use Existing Port Type, i.e. Web port Types

Hope it clarifies
