Der Commissary

I stand corrected. The best BBQ in Memphis is not Rendezvous or Corky's, it's at the Commissary in Germantown. Everyday I spend in Memphis, I get to sample better food and end up eating more. Thank God I'm leaving tomorrow or my diet will be ruined!

Commissary is a quaint tiny little hole in a shack in Germantown Tennessee. Before you reach the restaurant, you can smell the fragrant wood fire smoke in the air. The aroma guides you in the right direction so that you won't get lost as the building is a little bit hard to locate.

I had a 3 meat combo with Ribs, Pulled Pork and Spicy Sausage with slaw and beans. The smoked taste was very very strong in the meat leaving me to think that they have had to smoke it for at least 6-8 hours if not the whole day. So nice that I didn't even remember to take a picture of what I ate. The sausage is to DIE for.

Since we did a good workshop this week, I decided to give myself a little treat by ordering Jon's favorite dessert, Coconut Cream Pie. What a dessert, not too sweet, yet very rich.

Definitely highly recommended. This will be the first place I'll go the next time I'm in Memphis.
