Happy New Year!
I'm still getting plenty of spam posts, so moderation is still on. Please be patient while I sift through the spam and get your feedback posted.
After several anxious days waiting to hear from one of my team members and my sister-in-law, both of whom were in India at the time of the earthquake/tsunamia catastrophe, all is well. Neither were in the coastal region at the time of the disaster and both are home safe now. I made a donation to the American Red Cross, Internation Relief Fund yesterday. I hope it will help, but the scale of this disaster has not been seen in many decades. It will take many years to recover and will require donations of aid long past the time when this is no longer the top news story.
After a quiet week spent catching up on email, cleaning my messy office and reading specs, it's time to kick it back into high gear as the SDK team enters the final stretch on several different releases:
PSDK for Windows Server 2003 SP1: There will be more IDWs and RC(s?) and then the final RTM. We're finishing our cleanup efforts, doing final security passes and making sure we have all the correct content from all the teams that contribute. Producing the PSDK cuts across many teams in many divisions--it's a big coordination task with thousands of files to keep track of.
.NET Framework SDK for Whidbey Beta2: We're entering the final stretch for this Beta2 release. It's looking good so far all though our bug count is higher than we'd like.
WinFX SDK: We hope to have another CTP out early this year--therefore there will be another WinFX SDK. We've got specs ready for review and signoff for the next CTP and we also need to do the same from the Beta 1 release that will coincide with Longhorn Beta1 (no...I don't know when that will be).
