So far, so good.  The only time I have missed running as admin is when I needed to install something; that has happened once to update the Live Meeting ActiveX Control (and something else that I can't even remember anymore).  I have my main desktop and my laptop running my domain account as LUA (limited user account, also called restricted user account).  I rarely even notice the difference any more.

If you haven't given LUA a try and you are concerned about security, try it!  It won't hurt and if you are a developer, tester or program manager it will help you create software that runs well in LUA environments by living the customer experience.  The more of us who run LUAs, the better the LUA experience will become.

SDK Team News

The SDK team still has openings for Software Developers on our test team.  Contact BrianCo if you are interested.

There are plenty of SDK releases coming up!  The first half of calendar 2005 will see another WinFX CTP release (this time with the addition of Indigo), Windows Server 2K3 SP1 will RTM, and Whidbey Beta 2 will go out the door.  Next out will be Beta1 versions of Longhorn and WinFX.

September 2005 will be a busy month!  The PDC will be in Los Angeles starting on September 11th (pre conference) and the MVP Summit will be held in Redmond starting on September 28th.

Non Business

In a side note, my husband reports that a water main broke near our home and the police have blocked off all access to the neighborhood.  Apparently the water main break has undermined and damaged the main road; they are only letting in residents with proof of address from one direction.  I am not sure if I will have water when I get home tonight.  Their current estimate is that service will be restored sometime between 7pm and 10pm.

At least it's not raining today. It's been a bit soggier than usual this week; kinda like what SoCal was experiencing, but at least we Seattleites are a bit more used to the rain than your average SoCal duck. On top of the usual river flooding, all this rain is dimishing what little snow pack we had.  We have also had record high temperatures for the past two days (60 degree F--that's positively balmy for January).  Not a good time to be a Washington state skier.
