As usual, the PDC started with keynotes today.  The morning started with Eric Rudder and David Treadwell talking about Windows WorkFlow Foundation followed by Steven Sinofsky talking about the new developer features in Office 12.  Both presentations went off without a hitch.  The highlight was when Steven mimicked the Jim Allchin PDC special, limited time offer and whipped out the Office Steak Knives set.  His timing was perfect and the audience loved it.

I was fortunate to join Raymond Chen at lunch with a first time PDC attendee.  Raymond, who, like myself, doesn’t get the “attend” PDCs (only speak at them), wondered what strategy customers employed to decide which sessions to attend.  Our customer said that he first highlights all the sessions that look interesting and then determines which conflict. After that, tough choices have to be made.  Other customers come with clear agendas and try to cover everything that fits their area of interest.
