A Deep Zoom Blog

Tales of Deep Zoom, creating interesting apps in Silverlight with Deep Zoom, cool new ways to present information
About me

Whoever bothered to look -

My name is Lutz Gerhard. I am a program manager in LiveLabs at Microsoft. I work on Seadragon, which is one of the primary technologies behind Photosynth. Last year we started a project to integrate Seadragon into Silverlight, which turned into the Deep Zoom feature of Silverlight. It has become such a popular feature that I decided to start blogging little tips and tricks not just for using Deep Zoom in Silverlight, but also for using zooming to do interesting presentations of information and to demonstrate that there can often be a more pleasant visual presentation for content and concepts.

In a former life I worked on PowerPoint, so you may see some references to its use in this blog post. In Powerpoint I worked on SmartArt and the 3-D graphics engine for Powerpoint 2007.
