Errors while running export profile on ILM MA in ILM 2

In ILM 2, You have to configure ILM MA so that Sync Engine can communicate with ILM 2 Web Services. Generally SyncEngine(MIIS) and ILM 2 WebServices are installed on 2 different physical machines. Most of the times when you run Export profile on ILM MA, you get "failed-creation-via-web-services" and "failed-modification-via-web-services". This error means your ILM MA is not able to contact to ILM 2 Services for it's operations. Following are the reasons which cause these issues,

 

1. On MIIS Server, Check which Account/Credentials you have configured in ILM MA. Make sure you have give appropriate rights to this account. You can find information about these rights at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc561135.aspx .

2.  On MIIS Server, Check the MIIS config file(c:\Program Files\Microsoft Identity Integration Server\Bin\miiserver.exe.config). Check if the URL of ILM 2 Service(resourceManagementServiceBaseAddress) is correct there. This value should point to ILM 2 Server.

3. On ILM 2 Server, Check your ILM 2 Service config file (c:\Program Files\Microsoft Identity Management\Common Files\Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe.config) . Check you have mentioned the same ILM MA account as SyncEngineAccount account in this config file.

4. On ILM 2 Server, Check value of SynchronizationServerName has correct value in ILM 2 Service config. This should be your MIIS Server name.
