Workflow Labs

As you can spot from the inclusion of my Gamercard on the right, I've been spending a bit of time on my Xbox (probably a bit too much...), but I've also been running through the WF labs from the Workflow Foundation site.

If you haven't looked at WF yet, this is a really good chance to get your teeth into something that can provide real benefits for anyone building stuff which is typically an automated human process. The available power is pretty impressive and will only increase over time as new tasks for Office and so on begin appearing. Best of all the designer works really well(!!!) which makes the whole thing fun.

The labs don't just run through workflow construction, but also look at some of the more complex aspects of the APIs such as embedding the designer in your own applications, hooks to web services and so on.

Being able to encapsulate business activities and then reuse, or at least separate from the other application logic is, IMO, a Good Thing. It's much easier to visualise what's really going on than trying to code your way around a complex set of 'human' decisions. I think WF will be huge.
