ws-monetize
Talking of ws-* stuff, another idea that springs to mind is ws-monetize (bear with me..).
Again, if - in an emerging world of APIs - I'm looking to use a service for, say, access to a particular algorithm for use in an application I'm building. The service owner may want to charge me per use (or perhaps against specific method calls where some are free).
If there was a ws-monetize extension to the service, then of course I'd be able to calculate cost of the application per user, and pass tokens so that micropayments could be collected by the service in question. I could have different services with different costs for different tiers of customers. Pay me lots? OK, you get the good algorithm. Free? OK, you get my version of the algorithm.
Over lunch, someone suggested to me that maybe I could have ws-businessmodel instead, which figures everything out...
(OK, so I'm kidding about ws-monetize, but remember this post when it actually happens..!)
