Vista @ Home

I bought a fancy new PC around August of last year which has been running XP Media Centre edition (FX62 proc, 512MB Graphics, 4GB RAM and a giant hard disk). Most importantly it has 3 19" monitors (I read somewhere that billg uses 3 monitors, and I figured if it was good enough for him... Actually since then some colleagues have suggested that a single 30" monitor is more effective, but I much prefer maximised screens rather than window organisation).

Anyway, it's been a bit of a dog - sporadic freezing issues and so on - possibly to do with the new motherboard (drives have been upgraded a lot since I bought it), so I figured I'd give Vista a whirl.

As I'm pretty rubbish with computers, the guys in the lab helped with a bios upgrade, but I now have Vista Ultimate running (in 3 screen glory) at home - with Office 2007 Ultimate too. And the original issues of lock-up have gone away.

The Vista 'cuddliness' feels a lot more like a home PC experience than a corporate one - though I'm well used to that by now. I still can't quite get used to developing in Aero-glass mode though: I always think that it should be in a less frilly, austere environment. But given I've got an Experience Index of 5.3, I'm not going to turn it off am I...
