My Favorite Visio HotKeys

Visio hotkey combinations save you time and wrist flexibility. Here are the top hotkey combinations that I use every time I use Visio.

  1. Zoom in (Ctrl + mouse left-click) and zoom out (Ctrl + mouse right-click)
  2. Zoom so that a selection box fills the screen (Ctrl+Shift + Drag a box with your mouse)
  3. Zoom the whole page (Ctrl + W)
  4. Zoom using the mouse wheel (Ctrl + Shift + Spin your scroll wheel)
  5. Last but not least, the universal shortcuts: toggle through your open documents (Ctrl + F6), select all (Ctrl + A), cut (Ctrl + X), paste (Ctrl + V), undo (Ctrl + Z), redo (Ctrl + Y), print (Ctrl + P), save (Ctrl + S), open file (Ctrl + O), create new drawing ((Ctrl + N), print preview (Ctrl + F2).

The zoom hotkey combos are my favorites, especially when working with larger drawings or details on shapes. If anyone has other hotkey combos that they love, post them in feedback.

Know of a hotkey to switch between tools? For instance, I'm using the text tool, write some text, then want to switch back to the selection tool. I hate having to go up to the toolbar to do it!

One of my favorites is panning with Ctrl+Shift+Hold down the right mouse button and move mouse.

Also, you can switch between the tools by pressing Ctrl+(Any Number) or Ctrl+Shift+(Any number between 1 and 4). The ones I use most often are:

Ctrl+1 Pointer Tool
Ctrl+2 Text Tool
Ctrl+3 Pointer Tool
Ctrl+8 Rectangle Tool

I try to remember all HotKey but forget it quickly 8-)
My favorite visio hotkey is:F8(alignment)
F3(fill)
Shift+F3(line)
and F2(text edit).
btw visio have very strange hotkeys, as I thing...

Select shape, then:
Ctrl+Shift+W(Width)
Ctrl+Shift+H(Height) or +E
Ctrl+shift+L(J),C,R(Horiz Alingment text in shape)
Ctrl+shift+T,M,V(Vert)

I never used it, but know that they exist. Sometimes I use my own HotKeys, that I add in program.

Move through the forground tabs of your document:
Ctrl+PageUp
Ctrl+PageDown

Scroll left/right:
Shift+Mousewheel

Page Setup:
Shift+F5

I also use the zoom shortcuts from the original posting. I find the most useful are Ctrl+W and Ctrl+Shift+ClickDragMouse
