"Microsoft Corp.'s Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 effectively rode herd over numerous Windows 2000 and 2003 servers and a host of other Microsoft operating systems in eWEEK Labs' tests. IT shops with a significant percentage of Windows systems should consider using MOM 2005 for day-to-day operations, including performance monitoring and automatic system tuning."

Taking the Complexity Out of IT Management: AMD, Dell, Intel, Microsoft and Sun Publish New Web Services Management Specification
Microsoft, with industry partners Dell, Intel and Sun, announced the publication of WS-Management, a new Web services specification that defines how to use Web services to manage networked clients, servers and devices. Microsoft, along with Dell, Intel and Sun, feel that a specification is needed that addresses all aspects of IT management, from the largest servers to the smallest devices, while providing significantly reduced complexity to customers.
