Street Side Imagery in WLL

We're taking it to the next level - street side imagery. Today @ noon PST we will launch Windows Live Local's version of street side imagery @ http://preview.local.live.com/ . Some facts about it: Right now the imagery resides in Seattle and San Francisco

New Site Highlights WLL Bird's Eye Imagery

Check out this site: http://www.birdseyetourist.com/ . It's a great reference for finding unique eye candy available in Windows Live Local. Plus, I found some imagery where I didn't know we actually had imagery!

Virtual Earth Beta Map Control Version 2

Setting the Scale in Virtual Earth

Someone asked me recently what the scales for the different zoom levels were. Of course, I went to Windows Live Local and zoomed down one level at a time and produced the following list: Level - distance 1 - 7100 mi 2 - 3000 mi 3 - 1000 mi 4 - 600 mi

Weatherbug and Virtual Earth

http://maps.weatherbug.com/ Maps are sweet and overlaying weather is a great idea for an implementation. But, the divs Weatherbug uses for wind speed and direction are just plain sick.

Virtual Earth India

The Microsoft Research team has a sweet implementation of Road and Aerial data for India. It's not street level data, but it does have the Virtual Earth full-bleed maps and click to zoom functionality for levels 1-9. http://virtualindia.msresearch.in/
