News on SDM

As many of you for sure know Visual Studio Team Architect includes the Distributed System Designers which internally are build on the so far called Service Definition Model (SDM). SDM is a meta-model that describes services as well as infrastructure with their settings and constraints. The SDM is part of the bigger DSI Initiative. A new whitepaper "Understanding SDM and its Practical Application in 2006 to 2008" helps getting a better understanding.

Even it had been a bit quiet around DSI and SDM for a while, we now have good news:

System Definition Model (SDM) became Service Modeling Language (SML) when it was released at the end of July as a draft specification by: BEA Systems, BMC Software, Cisco Systems, Dell, EMC, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems. See Robs blog for more information.
