A first motivation entry - Data Generation with DBPro
Actually I planned to really keep news, technical information and motivation entries in balance but as you probably already recognized, the motivation section really slipped. Reason behind is not the lack of motivation, more a bit lack of time :-) But now here we go:
Late summer I did set up a whole new VPC with a specialized demo application for Team System demo purpose. One of the things I really hate in demo app's is when they are to easy, don't contain real data... I needed an application that was real life with real data and otherwise not to complicated. After the application was done I decided to give the Team System DBPro Data Generation a real life try and I was really amazed how easy and comfortable it was to generate the needed data. It took me about 1h to set up the Generators for all data, most of the time was wasted through updating my regular expression know-how, I needed for realistic looking data. After this hour I was able to generate a real big amount of super realistic looking Testdata. I tell you that this feature was one thing I would have always wanted to have during my consulting time. And voila here we go with DBPro! I encourage you to give the DBPro CTP a try, it is really great.
