Mark Brown's Virtual Earth Blog

TV Stations using Virtual Earth

One of the uses of Virtual Earth that really surprised me at first was using Virtual Earth in the Media and Entertainment industry. When I was at NAB a month ago I saw quite a few companies actively showing their wares with Virtual Earth. A few of these Viz RT, AccuWeather and Weather Central are absolutely remarkable. When I was a NAB the Weather Central guys did a demo for me that was really cool.

In these short cuts what they did is replace the default blue sky in Virtual Earth with custom skies in our the 3D view that reflect the current or forecast weather. So Cool.

In this video they are using Virtual Earth as part of a weather news story using our 3D, aerial and other drawing features such as polygons and polylines.

Enjoy.
