Chalk Talks for ‘Aspiring architects’ week starting Monday 25 February 2008
As part of the Microsoft Architect community program which runs regular forums in Auckland Wellington and Christchurch we have Darryl Chantry from Microsoft Redmond down here talking to those with an interest in becoming architects and those with an interest in fostering the development of architects. These Chalk Talks have already been well subscribed in all three of the centres Darryl is presenting at but we still have spare places in Auckland and in Wellington where we have added and additional session to meet demand.
I’m throwing the Auckland and Wellington sessions open to those outside the architecture community mailing list until spaces are filled so if you are interested in participating read the Description of the Chalk Talk below and if you are still interested use the ‘mailto’ email links below to send in your RSVP. The extra session in Wellington and the session in Auckland will close when they are full.
Title: Career Development for architects by Darryl Chantry, Architect, Microsoft Developer & Platform Strategy group – Redmond USA
This chalk talk will be of interest to those wanting to move into architecture, those who have recently moved into an architecture role, those who have an interest in developing their architecture career further and those who wish to help with the development of any of those groups.
Transitioning technical staff through to technical architects is becoming a key concern for many organizations, including Microsoft. To this end we have developed an Aspiring Architect Program aimed at helping developer’s and IT pros transition to the architect’s role.
This presentation will be run as a ‘Chalk Talk’ where we will you through the tools, content, and training materials available for the ‘Aspiring Architect’ community. We will discuss the resources Microsoft makes available for the ‘Aspiring architect’ and look at the roadmap for new tools and content. We will set time aside for discussion to allow those attending to share their own experiences in developing an architectural career. This talk is also your opportunity to provide feedback on Microsoft’s Aspiring Architect Program concepts, and help shape future for the program.
The Speaker:
Darryl Chantry works for Microsoft and is based in Redmond, Washington State where his key focus is career development programmes for architects. Darryl originally comes from New Zealand so he has additional insights into some of the unique challenges and opportunities that we face developing our careers here.
