agHost in Silverlight

Published 17 April 07 12:04 PM

I've known about the name for Silverlight for a while and even so never put 2 + 2 together when it came to the agHost.js file (which is used to instantiate the Silverlight object in your browser of choice).

You see, I had always thought that the ag was short for agnostic and was used to indicate that the JS class dealt with all the browser specific issues you don't want to have to think about as a web developer. Apparently, it was a bit of secret message hinting at the name to come as Ag is the periodic symbol for Silver (Argentum).

You live and learn... (as my mother likes to say :-))
