Upgrading memory? A few days? How could that be, let's see. Construct a software emulation of additional memory. Don't take the easy way out and use virtual memory, but trick the kernel and page tables and everything into thinking there's really physical memory there. Of course you have to have to back it up yourself somewhere, so find a file server somewhere to put it on...

This reminds me of the requirement starting with some version of NT, that side-by-side installations on the same machine had to be assigned different computer names.
