All I have been able to learn about this specifically-named object is that it is an NDIS Wan Tunneling Miniport Adapter (device), installed automatically by the OS (in my case XP Pro). If I did say Yes to a dialog box at some point, allowing it to be installed, I wish I hadn't, because now it's in my registry and sits ominously with a big yellow exclamation point next to my functioning wireless card, cannot have its driver updated and cannot be installed ("The device cannot be uninstalled because it may be required to boot your system"--Yeah right, my system booted fine without it for months!).

Microsoft has been mum on the subject via email, and their telephone service is just a waiting game with which I'm losing patience. If you know how to fix (/get rid of) this problem, please let me know. Thanks.
