If this is the case, isn't there a problem if you are using a home router?

If I give out my E-mail addresses to let my friends into my Computer. Isn't that leaving me wide open to have someone else get into my Computer I they get my address to help themselves It seems to me that I am opening the Door for Trouble. I get too much Spam as it is and Phishing E-mails

My colleague and I are on the same NAT'ed LAN, and Max thinks we are both "offline" relative to each other. How does it find the other machine? How can I determine what IP and what port it's trying to use?

i really like the concept of this program, but i believe the "security" vulnerabilities are Far less than waht people may think. i am not a tech or anything but i believe the process works similar to this:
1. i make my list and invite my friend Dave to see my photos. once i send him the invite it goes to the "Max" server. since the message is a sent from my computer directly there no outside forces could intercept either his nor my e-mail.
2. Dave gets home and logs into Max. the "Max" server then send him the invitation from me. Again a secure connection.
3. the "Max" server now knows i want to send my photos and Dave accepts to recieve them. as soon as we are both logged into Max, the server tells my computer how to talk to his and vice versa. since the "Max" server knows how its talking to us via my switch to my router to my modem to the server, it can then tell dave's computer to follow my path.

The only way that the server should not be able to complete the connection would seem to be if my computer was told not to go to his IP and not to recieve anything from his IP. Although using an anonymous proxy would also throw off the server wouldn't it?

Unfortunanly, the Spam we are all subjected to, is typically because at one time we used it to sign up for something, had a friend put it with his 30 friends in a cc: email, or as i have seen an increase of huge blocks of addresses in the cc: field that start with a word and then just increase numericaly.

i think the addition of a secure connection icon might help some users. and there would be little threat of someone gaining complete access to your hard drive would not be very likely, since essentialy you are authoring only your friends passport to come access only what you chose.

I'm sorry, but even though this is a beta program, you guys simply don't know what the fuck you're doing. Sharing photos via direct connection? While others are forced to go through the painstaking process of installing the damn software? No method to share photos via blogs in place? You guys clearly have a terrible plan here. Stop worrying so much about WinFX and aesthetics, and start putting more thought into implementation. It seems that Microsoft is so caught up with trying to take down Apple (or imitate, rather) through aesthetics, when the options for customers are limited. The program looks nice, but who the fuck cares when I can't share the damn albums with people who don't have the program? Blogs are the thing nowadays, especially for the teenage generation - take that into serious consideration you aimless idiots.

Thanks for making something with WinFX. Is the sourcecode available? How about making a site that uses the power of winFX behind the scenes...something that doesnt require us to install beta software on our machines..

Max is clearly a good looking program, but it has not been at all carefully thought out and has a long way to go before it would interest me.

1.It does not establish itself clearly and easily nwith a shortcut on the desktop. It is quite complicated to use compared with several other web based photo-sharing proghrams ie Webshots, Photobucket and so on.

2. It is ridiculous to make the recipients have to download Max before they can see your photos.
No, think again and get the programmers interested in consumer use rather than pretty design.
