Max looks nice, and I can see it might be useful when there are plenty of more features. However I don't see the value of this News feature ? If I want to read news I will use my browser and not my photo software.

Why are you guys always a release or two behind with the CTPs?  I notice that you've just released against the dec CTP but we've already moved onto the Feb CTP.

We try to be on the latest CTP possible, but it's difficult to ship release quality code on a moving platform in a timely manner. We do the best we can :)

What's up with the little left and right buttons on the top nav? Is there a way to room them in Expression?

They sort of work when you read the news, but not really. I can use them to go back to the Max page but I can't use them to go "right" back to the News window.

Is there an object I can access when I use expression?

Is there a way to change the default US news to Australian news?
At the end of the day, to me, my local news are more important than any others.
Of course I always enjoy reading the world news.

Right now the News view is associated to the MSNBC Newsbot data, and cannot be modified to other news sources.  We are planning on adding the ability to read arbitrary RSS feeds in an upcoming update, stay tuned.

also, why dont you include more editing options that one can make which show off the power of winfx? even some features which are just for fun?

The letters under the blue and red would be better if they were a lighter color.  As it is you can't choose very easily. Like all the news sections especially the Science Section News.

When the economy goes down it would be great if some well known people like Forbes, Greenspan etc could make recommendations on the way to fix it.  

It has been suggested by one smart person in my family that not only should we be concerned about Social Security but the stock market will be at risk because all the Baby Boomers will be taking their money out at once.  I think this is a good reason to fix the money in and money out process of Social Security.  These people are all going to live longer and some of them like the very smart person in my family.  We needs some feed back from Forbes.  I like him and he has never steered us wrong before.

Totally agree with nojetlag.  i just don't see the point of news in a "photo" program.  I'll read the news on my home page when i go on the Internet thanks very much!

MY FRIENDS WITH NON ENGLISH WINDOWS CAN'T USE MAX WHY NOT

Great software, Great interface look its a really good app however i have some feature that should be there.

First something so you can do image editing like rotate and crop small feautures that make it just that better.

the next it mutiple select by pulling a square around it or the good old ctrl key, while you there make it so you can rotate (inparticular) mutiple images at once as normally when you hold a camera for a portrait shot (whatever you want to call it) you do it the same time everytime.

the next one is so that you can change like 20 photos in a list and in folders name like you might call half of them Las Vegas (with 001 and what have you after it) and the other half Australia.

The ability to open the file before you put in a list would be much appreciated, and be some extra effects for mantle mode, transitions etc.

Last but not least some options for speed and fullscreen slideshows.

Hope this will be in Vista and make use of some of the extras I've heard about the photo editing in vista and intergreat them so we dont have to go from app to app. anyway great step for managing and sharing photos. GREAT JOB. GUI WONDERFUL.

I love the news page and how the pages snap into place as you scroll. All web browsers should do this.

when is the dutch version of max available??

The installer needs to have more visible progress information. I thought it had hung after about 10 minutes of waiting, but then I just happened to move my cursor down to my (hidden) taskbar. It was then that I saw an information item saying WinFX had finished installing and was able to tell the installer to continue.

Will the final version support Canon RAW files? I don't think Max wants to become an image editor, but it needs to be able to display the common formats and RAW is headed that way. Also it is essential that it be able to display EXIF data and the source-file location.

Looks pretty nice, but I wish that it didn't open news in your external web browser.  Also seems to be a lot of hard drive thrashing, not sure if my computer isn't powerful enough or if its Max.

Nice interface, but I still don't get the point of the software, or is it not really beta, but pre-alpha/missing major features?

The UI feels unintuitive and the few features that are available seem to be buried.  As far as I can tell, it can create lists of photos, share them with friends, annotate them and read news.  Do you have bigger plans for this, or is it just a WinFX demo app?

I also find it a bit slow on a P4 3ghz w/ 1g memory.  From the demos of Vista I have seen so far though, I guess that is to be expected ;)

Sorry guys, I am just a bit underwealmed by this, but that has been a trend out of Microsoft lately (except for VS 2005 which is quite nice, jury is out on TS though.)

Hmm, I just tried this for the first time after it's initial release and I was disappointed. The interface is nice, but that is about it. Picasa has more features for photos, and any standard RSS reader has more features for news. This seems rather lacklustre, probably because of the lack of knowing what the actual product is.

I also noticed it to run a bit slow during the slideshows, when in mantel view. I have a P4 3Ghz processor w/ 1GB of RAM as well.

I guess this is a case of a program should do one thing and do it well. From what I can tell, you hope Max to do almost anything, but you aren't giving the current functions enough focus, and move on to the next cool function you thought up of once the last tool was released.

Very good interface design! I hope these designs are implemented in Vista! These designs make more sense, because they are enhancements over XP's Luna and not a simple copy of Apple's Auqa like in Vista Beta 2.

Who on earth would anyone want to read the news on a photo sharing app?

Two things needed to make it useful as a feeds reader:
(1) Importing of feeds lists (opml)
(2) Open articles in Max itself.

The interface itself is pretty.

Oh, and another thing: Make it more usable from the keyboard. I know that Microsoft bought out a wonderful RSS reader, Onfolio, which did everything an RSS reader should do but was not as pretty as Max. How about putting more of Onfolio's greatness behind that pretty face?

I simply liked the news feed option on Max. The layout, the ease of operation is fabulous. But why don't you provude us an option to have user defined categories for the fees and also option to rearrangethe feeds the way the user wants it.

It doesn't work in Vista at all. I have heard that some people have managed to get it working playing about with the files, so at this rate, it's only a matter of time before some hackers make it installable on Vista.

I just don't see the sense in not making it Vista Compatible from the start.
