Registered the pipeline using Pipereg.exe.

The tool Pipereg.exe gave confirmation message that “Component registered successfully”

When we tried to insert the pipeline component in Checkout pipeline through Pipeline editor, it didn’t give any error.

If we run the pipeline, the system is giving one error “Component Execution failed for component[0x0] hr: 0x80040154\r\nProgID: TaxCalc.TaxCalc\r\nCould not create Component TaxCalc.TaxCalc. This may be a component registration issue.”

Could anyone please throw some light into this? What could be the possible reason for this error?

Couple of things, if you don't set the user id in the cookie then the profile object will always be null. The way the CommerceContext.Current.UserProfile works is that it will look at the user’s cookie and use the user's email in there to get the current profile.

IPrincipal user = HttpContext.Current.User;

if ((user != null) && (user.Identity != null))

{

 Response.Write(user.Identity.Name);

}

This should provide you the user's email then check your profile system to make sure that the user exists.
