Good ol' Gartner. The article is supposed to explain why you shouldn't upgrade to Vista right away. It states in one sentence "Gartner highlights some of the weaknesses in Microsoft's platform strategy." and then in the very next sentences, gives a reason why you SHOULD upgrade to Vista: IE protected mode.

Security? You must have missed rootkit removal. How come Microsoft is not that concerned over this. I am not even echoing the Sony BMG story. I have been plagued with horrid rootkits in the past, and I none of Microsoft products have helped. Needless to say, I am not holding my breath about Vista.

Also,

"Information organization and retrieval" : Windows Explorer is still a single tab application. How productive indeed.

"User experience" : what corporations need now is a budgeted retrain. That means money cranked out for nothing really productive. Also, the new start menu was obviously developed and tested by developers only.

"Media center : see it" : well, there are reviews of vista media center out there. Just read them.

Winfx, IE7 : all of this is (or will be) available on Windows XP. So what are you talking about?

"Games" : Xbox 360. Your post is still about Vista?

guess what bozo. ie7 is available for xp and opera is better anyway.

guess what bozo. no game maker for the pc is going to require vista because so many 2k/xp boxes are out there.

guess what bozo. copernicus, google desktop search (and even msn!) have integrated search products now, at the price of zero dinero.

guess what bozo. if you'd rtfa you'd know that most of the security can be added (for free) to xp too.

keep being a good microserf spreading fud. i hope you get 2.5'd for being ingratiating, unoriginal and dumb.

Why wait for Vista at all when you could be running Mac OS X now or on Intel boxes six months earlier than Vista. Mac OS X Tiger delivered all the promises of Vista a whole year before and everyone knows Leopard (due out the same time) is going to be much better.

Mac OS X has always been more secure, far better looking, far more stable and original - it's interface was all Apple's idea - Vista's interface was Apple's idea, which Microsoft helped themselves to... What else is new?

Just go to www.apple.com/macosx/ and read for yourselves. Hell, I could think of more than 7 reasons to switch to Mac OS X Tiger in less than 15 mins!
