HDTV support including OTA recording?

In the US... OTA digital tv broadcasts are 8VSB modulated ATSC transport streams...

When recording such a broadcast... is it recording to the native format or to a secondary, encrypted format?

Brendan, the stream gets written to the disc as a DVR-MS file like regular TV, no re-encoding takes place.

I see from the MSDN site that Windows XP Professional cannot be upgraded to MCE. Anyone know why not?

Upgrades from Pro are not supported as Media Center is not available as anything other than an OEM release. As it's not available at retail there's no need to support an upgrade scenarion from anything other than a previous Media Center release.

And why isn't it available at retail, forcing people wanting a media center PC to buy one from a manufacturer when we could build ou own, just like a stadard PC ?
