Hidden Message in Writing Secure Code 2nd Ed

I've been meaning to write about this for a year or so, but for some reason I simply keep forgetting to do it! There's a hidden message in WSC 2nd ed.

Since the book's release, only one person has found it. Here's a clue: it's in plain sight :)

Is it the photographs at the start of each part that shows how an egg makes safely in the face of may utensils that want to attack and cook it and how it eventually reaches a safe planet with the help of the "Chicken Hawk Mobile Security Module" and then hatches? :)

Naah ... It can't be that simple can it? Though I must say that before reading your post I never paid attention to those amusing photos.

In the lower left-hand corner of the image on the front cover of my copy, there are four plus-shaped symbols that appear to have a character in the center of them, but I cannot make them out. Does it have anything to do with that?
