Patrick that is a great question. Here is a list features that do not refresh:

• Themes – Permanently converted to styles

• Content Controls – Permanently converted to static text

• Bibliography and Citations – Permanently converted to static text

• Tracked Moves – Permanently converted to Inert and Delete

• Custom XML Datastore – Permanently lost if binary .doc is saved or edited in Word 97-2003

• Text Boxes with Vertical Alignment – Permanently converted to use Top vertical alignment

• Relative Positioned Text Boxes – Permanently converted to absolute positioned text boxes

I see that text boxes have new alignment capabilities in Word. Do they also work with comments, notes, and fields now? Or do we still have use frames to do that? E.G., as explained by:

Francis - We have taken steps to improve text boxes in Word 2007, however, frames still need to be used for comments, notes, and most fields.

On the same note(Text Boxes), I have observed that I can no longer change the text direction in textboxes. I can repro this on 3 PCs, while my notebook with Beta2( prior to tr) works as expected. In b2tr, the text direction button remains disabled, no matter what. Is that by design?

Same is the case with rotate in the same tab.

VaibhavGarg - I believe that is a bug in B2TR, which should be fixed when we RTM.

Does it work the other way around as well? E.g. if I install the Compatibility Pack, and open and edit a docx-document, and select "Save as", I can now "Feature refresh" that document in Word 2007?

Hi Christian – Feature refresh works the same way via the .doc and .docx/.docm formats with the exception of the SmartArt, Charts, and Equations, which cannot be refreshed when saved via the Compatibility Pack and opened back in Word 2007. We actively looking into ways of addressing the inconsistency this introduces.
