Computer Arts Projects - Deep Zoom Composer

I've recently written a piece on using Deep Zoom Composer to put a portfolio online for Computer Arts Projects magazine. One of the challenges I face is that neither Silverlight 2 nor Deep Zoom Composer are released products and they are therefore still in a certain amount of flux. To make it as easy as possible for people, I'm going to publish here a set of instructions to get you going and I will keep these updated as new refreshes of Silverlight 2 and Deep Zoom Composer are released.

Requirements:

  • Windows Vista or Windows XP Service Pack 2
  • Silverlight 2 Beta 1 - download here [see below]
  • Deep Zoom Composer v0.9.0.2 - download here [see below]

This version of Deep Zoom Composer is tied to Silverlight 2 Beta 1 (it will not render in Beta 2). There will of course be a refresh of Deep Zoom Composer shortly after Silverlight 2 Beta 2 ships that will target the new release. As soon as that happens, I'll update this post with the additional information.

[UPDATE] Silverlight 2 Beta 2 has released and you should use the following versions of Silverlight and Deep Zoom Composer:

[Beta 2] You can see a simple example of the sort of results you can achieve at http://mikeo.co.uk/Demo/DeepZoom/ComputerArts/DeepZoomOutputB2.html.

[This is the old link for the Beta 1 version in case you happen to have that installed] http://mikeo.co.uk/Demo/DeepZoom/ComputerArts/DeepZoomOutput.html.
