The format the password has was in was the /etc/passwd format. Mac OS X does not read from the /etc/passwd file and does not use accounts in that format except in very special circumstances. Like... uhm, I dunno, if you are going to restore the iPhone it might stick a dummy account on the iPhone so it can restore in a special boot mode?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Where exactly would you enter this password, even if it were for the iPhone?&lt;/p&gt;
