SharePoint Replication

Great inquiry as to whether SharePoint servers can replicate their data to other servers for increased availability. Unfortunately, that was not supported in SharePoint Portal Server 2003 nor is it supported in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

If you want to look into disaster recovery scenarios, here are some good resources with which to start:

1.            SQL Server Transaction Log Shipping.

2.            Database Mirroring: Using SQL Server Database Mirroring with Office SharePoint Server and Windows SharePoint Services  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83725

3.            SAN Mirroring. Data is mirrored at SAN level to an alternate site using the SAN's built in functionality (Continuous Availability from HP, SRDF from EMC)

4.    Microsoft SharePoint 2007 Disaster Recovery WebCast: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/events/moss2007/dsk-106.mspx
