# re: Why Upgrade to Vista?

I went to this session on Tuesay, August 19th at Chicago and Dan did a great job of presenting and giving compelling reasons why it's worth upgrading to Vista/Windows 2008 Server. In fact I took my free Windows Vista Ultimate software home, installed it and played with it all night; I'm hooked!

However, I am having an issue with obtaining a product key. At the seminar they hand out a DVD with a code number and a website address where you can register the software and obtain the product key. I've registered and requested my key many times but I haven't received the product key as promised.(Yes, I've made sure that the message wasn't grabbed by my anti-spam filter.) I'm afraid that I'll only have my new Vista Ultimate install for the 30 day trial period if I can't get this resolved.

Can anyone from Microsoft assist me?

I had logistics go through the steps with the pin and this is what they got:

I got a PIN # from one of the software packages at CAVCOMM and registered it myself.  About 15 minutes later I received this response with the Product Key.

Here’s what I recommend we do.

1.    Check your junk e-mail folder.

2.    If not found in your junk e-mail, e-mail “WINSP1@microsoft.catalysis.com” with your PIN number to investigate a new product key.

I've just attended that session on October 1st in Nashua NH. I tried to put my PIN on

https://microsoft.order-1.com/registerwindowsvistasp1//Default.aspx

I got: This PIN code has expired.

The website problem outlined has been resolved.  This issue was resolved by extending the the deadline for obtaining your key from the registration site www.registerwindowsvistasp1.com. If it still does not work, try deleting the cookie for the site or do the registration from another computer.  The new expiration date for obtaining your install key is the end of December 2008.
