What does the Current Economy Mean for IT?

According to a recent Computerworld article: "Caution, not expansion, will likely be the business direction at many companies, affecting IT as well as other departments." The article goes on to explain that IT managers need to build a case for funding IT projects that can make a difference from either a business or cost perspective. These projects include things like improved Business Intelligence, expanding self service capabilities, and researching where IT can save money using Software plus Services.
