ARC Thoughts

This is a blog on architecture. Focus of this blog is to help technical decision makers with upcoming technologies so they can make informed decisions. Since I'm passionate about retail industry and payments industry, there will some bias towards those areas.
Next Generation

Recently I took my and son and daughter who are 8 and 6 years old to a store to get stuff for home. On the way to the store as usual the talk of buying some goodies came up. My kids love to get some goody every time they go into the store, which is a tough habit I'm trying to break. Anyways, we were discussing how its not right to buy a goody everytime we went to the store, how they have to earn it by helping parents at home, etc. Then finally I said, I don't have money to buy goodies as I have just enough money to buy the stuff for home. Within no time my son replied that I could buy it using my credit card. I was shocked to hear that a hardly 8 year old kid knows about credit card, which in my opinion is pretty scary. My first exposure to credit card was when I was in my early 20s. I wonder what the next generation will use to pay for goods and services? will they still know cash? will they only pay with virtual payment instruments? it is quite fascinating and scary to think about what the world will look 20 years from now?

I don't know about you, but I'll be out for next four days to enjoy the holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
