ARC Thoughts

This is a blog on architecture. Focus of this blog is to help technical decision makers with upcoming technologies so they can make informed decisions. Since I'm passionate about retail industry and payments industry, there will some bias towards those areas.
What a storm!

I live in the Seattle area and this past weekend we experienced a major wind storm. We had winds ranging from 60 MPH to 90 MPH. As you can imagine major power outage in the area and even after 5 days there are still 200,000 homes without power. I personally lost power for 3 days.

This storm reminded me about how dependent we are on power. Also, with temperatures dipping to below freezing at night, it was a once in a life time experience. I sympathize with all the families that still don't have power.

Best part of the power outage was the outpouring of help from every corner. Suddenly there was a sense of community, neighbors were helping each other, strangers were offering help and in general it was great to see the outpouring of kindness. I will write more once I'm completely back on my feet.
