Retailers are slow to adopt Web 2.0 technologies
Happy New Year!
I was hoping to start my first blog of he year with some great news, but came across this piece of not so good information. I felt it is important enough to share with you without any delay.
According to a survey by Brulant, an online systems solutions building and marketing company, leading retailers are behind in adopting Web 2.0 technologies such as AJAX, XML, etc. Only 20 percent of the top 200 Internet retailers have jumped on to the latest technology to provide rich customer experience. You can read the detailed report by clicking here.
I want to take this opportunity and call out some of the key technologies in this user experience space. Microsoft recently released .NET 3.0 platform which includes a technology known as Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) which is a foundation to build the next generation user experience. WPF is also available on the Web and devices and is called WPF/E (WPF Everywhere).
Microsoft also released a tool to build rich user experience for eCommerce customer using ASP.NET. This tool is code named Atlas is available for download here. With Atlas building rich user experience interfaces becomes all the more easy. Here is a link the comprehensive portal on ASP.NET AJAX.
