It was originally started by <a href="http://www.visa.com">Visa</a> as <a href="http://www.visa.com/cisp">CISP</a>, then followed by <a href="http://www.mastercard.com/sdp">SDP</a> from <a href="http://www.mastercard.com">MasterCard</a> and all the four major card associations have come together to form the <strong><a href="http://usa.visa.com/business/accepting_visa/ops_risk_management/cisp.html?ep=v_sym_cisp">PCI DSS</a></strong> compliance. Its goal is to protect cardholder information and has created 12 major requirements for merchants, retailers or any other organization that deals with credit card to comply with.</p> <p>Recently a separate organization is created to channel feedback from retailers and partners.
