CMG 2004

I have recently been contacted by and have accepted an opportunity to speak at the Computer Management Group 2004 International Conference (http://www.cmg.org/conference/conference.html) from December 5-10 in Las Vegas. I've been asked to provide an abstract for the topic, so I thought I'd pose the question to all of you (whether you have plans to attend or not).  What do you think would be valuable to hear about from a performance optimization, resource managment, and capacity planning, ITIL/MOF perspective?  I was thinking something along the lines of bringing all of these areas together to make informed decisions about the enterprise.  There are many examples of people discussing the individual areas, but I haven't seen many that take the holistic view across all of these areas to determine what it all means.  Thoughts?

My hunch is that the ITIL/MOF perspective would be interesting to talk about. ITIL is still mostly a European thing, and I can't remember any mention of MOF at the couple of CMGs that I've attended. I should be able to dig out the past proceedings if you're interested. Congrats on the invitation!

Thanks! I was thinking something along the same line. ITIL and MOF give great guidance on what to do, but don't give deep guidance on how to do it. My thought was to provide some prescriptive guidance on the physical implementation of the concepts that ITIL/MOF teach.

Thanks again for the feedback.

As you talk about the ITIL and MOF, remember to put them into perspective with the MSM's we have to provoke action on the customer's part. I've been talking process for years but nothing changes because we don't show customers how to implement process.
