Several months back, my significant other decided to leave the fold of Microsoft to branch out on her own as an ISV specializing in tools for developers. This week she launched her first product, Agent Aware for Windows and while I may be a little biased, I have to say that it's a really useful tool. I find myself using it constantly to see what's really going on behind the scenes of our web sites. A bit about Agent Aware from her site:
"Agent Aware is a Windows Forms tool that allows users to view the html output of a page based on the user-agent string. Agent Aware users can request a page using any of the pre-configured user-agent strings or create their own user-agent strings. It lets you see the html output as it is rendered by the server and sent to the client. In addition you can view request and response headers as well as detailed information about the requested page."
Features
- View Html output based on almost 40 pre-defined user agent strings
- Create and manage custom user agent strings lists
- View text based content such as script files, css files, and xml files
- View images and image information
- View full Http request and response headers
- Save reports
- Save content
- View detailed content information
In the first 5 minutes of using this tool, I was able to find code defects on two of our major sites and while these weren't show stoppers, they were causing unexpected behavior on the site that interfered with the user experience.
So please join me in welcoming No Box Solutions, Inc. to the world of ISV's and download the trial version of the tool. If you like it, spread the word. If you have suggestions or feature requests, please visit the forums on her site.
That's it for me today
