Microsoft Dynamics Live CRM

Yesterday at the closing keynote at Convergence, Steve Ballmer showed a live demo of the upcoming Microsoft Dynamics Live CRM service. Microsoft Dynamics Live CRM is powered by the upcoming release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, code-named “Titan,” which uses the same multitenant code base to deliver both on-premise and Software as a Service (SaaS) deployments, and allows customers to choose the right deployment model for their needs at any time. Microsoft launched a press release and you can read it here: http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2007/mar07/03-14ConvergenceDayThreePR.mspx

Ronald Lemmen has some great screenshots of the application in acion, take a look at his post here! Infoworld has a nice article as well http://www.infoworld.com/article/07/03/15/HNcrmlive_1.html and so does eWeek: http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1986998,00.asp

I am curious what you are thinking of this "version" of Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Please share your thoughts and ideas on the new Live webservice in the comments area.

This looks hot, they are going to give SalesForce a run for their money, although a bit late, my company uses Dynamics GP 8 and SalesForce, and this may compel us to switch to CRM so we can enjoy the integration, assuming their SAAS offering will have the same built in integrations.

I did note one member of the audience who was a partner went up to the mic and asked Steve how this will affect the CRM reseller channel.  He seemed to be a little upset, and I don't blame him, but at the rate things are going, Microsoft might cut out a lot of business from their partners with their SAAS offerings, or perhaps the partners will adopt and find new and creative ways to leverage these new offerings to generate more business.

I'm not worrying too much about the affect on the CRM reseller channel. Have you seen the keynote session by Joel? Think about his topic around "Innovation at the verge". Truly innovative ideas will come up and create a whole new market.

MS CRM is not browser based, it's IE based. That is a serious drawback when trying to close a sell.

It will be interesting to see how customizable the new Live CRM is.  Perhaps the channel Partners can still provide valuable customization services and training.

Can anyone give me a rough estimate of the discount tiers for resellers of Microsoft CRM?

Thanks...
