ENJOY: Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 RC0 VPC

You can stop emailing me asking about when and if the the RC0 VPC will be available.

On November 17th you can download it here and it will even contain some sample data!

The VPC Contains:

  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 (RC0)
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM Desktop Client
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM Email Router
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM SDK (C:\Microsoft Dynamics CRM SDK)
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition (SP2)
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  • Internet Explorer 7 (Tabbed browsing is disabled, not sure why)
  • Microsoft Office Professional 2007
  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
  • POP3 E-Mail Services (No Exchange)

There are a few things different on the VPC compared to the readme, I noted those above. If you have troubles starting the VPC and get presented with an error, this is probably caused due to the fact they did not set a fixed IP and have a Kerberos issue in the VPC.....

Update: LIVE now!!!

Still no working download links :(

My  fingers are itching to get to playing around with this build.

Are there any major/minor changes since CTP3?

Hmmm still waiting - will this links ever get functional?

BTW on tabbed browsing - had some issues with that on 3.0 in design mode - maybe they just wanted to avoid this.

Richard, 12 PST means you have to wait about 8 hrs from now. Can't help that they planned it this way.

Found already a bug(?, can't create organizations), but I love the Titan Speed batchscript. It gave the image a real visible boost.

The image has also a SPN issue (causes a 401 if you use the domain in Visual Studio), the same as the Training VPC.

Here you can find the fix:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=6EC50B78-8BE1-4E81-B3BE-4E7AC4F0912D&displaylang=en

Downloaded and installed the W2k3 support tools (never leave the office without a copy) I do often a CRM 3 installation.

After the installation it open a command session:

I'm trying to upgrade my CRM3.0 VPC to CRM4.0 RTM.

Everything has gone well apart from the Outlook Client. The installer states "Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook cannot be installed on a computer where Microsoft Exchange Server versions prior to Exchange Server 2007 are installed".

Anyone know of a work around or do I need to upgarde exchange too......!

Any idear to fix this problem?

For everybody that wants to upgrade the Outlook Client on the VPC... You need to do the following: add a DWORD key to the registery.

Key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM\IgnoreChecks

Value: 1

Restart your setup and you should be good to go. Just as a reminder, this is "officially" not a supported scenario.

Ok im already experiencing a nasty bug in the CRM 4.0 VPC. It runs great for the first week.  Then all of a sudden when you try to run it again you get this:

Cannot open database "CRMVPC_MSCRM" requested by the login. The login failed.

Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'

Of course everything looks fine in the login area so im baffled as to why this happend.  Anyone else had the happen and is there a fix?  Thanks!  Bill

Hi,

Anyone know when the 64 bit version of CRM 4.0 will be released? It's not available on MSDN subscriber downloads (the 32bit is).

Thanks
