And now the news...
So I wanted to apologize I have been meaning to write, but... I was so busy working on the new stuff I haven't been able to find the time. I am at DevConnections in Las Vegas this week. I am holding some focus groups on search. But that is not why I am writing. Big things have happened with Search over the last two months. And the start is available on http://labs.msdn.microsoft.com/searchbeta. We have added forums and Codezone Community searches to the search platform and in the next couple of months we will be adding filtered and scoping to this UI as well as change the search platform to MSN search. We are betting on MSN because, while it was lacking for sometime, it is now fast becoming the powerful search tool that everyone hopes it would become. Our next step is to replace the current search site on MSDN with this new UI. Let me know what you think.
Some Questions...
- Search Refactoring: How often when you don't find something you are searching for do you refactor the search? (This is with any search engine)
- In what ways to you do you refactor your queries?
- What UI tools would help you refactor?
- Advanced Search: Do you ever use advanced search features? Do you think advance searches help you find more relevant results?
- Scoped Search: When searching content, do you believe that scoping the search will improve or hurt your chances of finding the results?
Thanks!
