Issues for Partners - VSTE Developer availability from Subscriber Downloads

Several of you have inquired or commented about what you expected to have access to for VS 2008 Editions, but may or may not be seeing.

Unfortunately I don't have great news on this at this point. The source data system that feeds the Subscriptions System does not identify to the MSDN Subscriptions system that you are a Partner - either Certified or Gold Certified Partner. This has been raised as a deficiency with the data feed I believe is slated for an eventual fix but not in the near term.

This means that Partners can not access the VST Developer Edition from Subscriber Downloads and must wait for their Partner media kits. I have raised this issue again with the upstream systems, but do not see any likely resolution on the horizon.

The funny thing is that the Partner folks are pointing the finger at MSDN when I talk with them, advising me to call MSDN.  Perhaps the two teams need to get into a room and work it out?  This has been a problem since the Visual Studio 2005 release.

Isn't this a serious enough issue that Microsoft should consider fixing it sooner than later?   Partners pay a significant amount of money, to have access to the latest software, and you're saying that it could be weeks before they do?

Nasty issue.

I have to say this is somewhat disappointing.  It is not as if this hasn't been apparent in the past - for example as  Gold Certified Partner with the Custom Development Solutions competency we have never been able to download the full Team Foundation Server from MSDN and have had to rely on using copies of a CD from our kit.

Given the content of the above post, is it reasonable to assume that the media kits will ship ASAP rather than in time with the official launch next year?

I am trying to understand what should be included in terms of MSDN for someone with a Certified Partner status.

For example can a number of our technicians access the MSDN website to get access to software? At the moment I only seem to be able to associate one user.

I would appreciate it if you could explain how thwewhole thing works because from a Partners point of view it seems to be pretty complicated.

This same thing happened back when Visual Studio 2005 was released.  I cannot believe it has not been fixed yet.  Absolutely ridiculous.
