Happy New Year from MSDN Subscriptions

It's a new year at MSDN Subscriptions and 2007 promises to be a fulfilling year with the remaining waves of Windows Vista and Office 2007 releasing and loads of new software to further your development projects and test scenarios.

I appreciate all of the comments and feedback you’ve provided to me through my blog and have a number of items to share with you today.

Save the Dates!

We have several conferences coming up in 2007, but two of particular interest may be PDC 2007 and MIX07. PDC 2007 (Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference) will be held from October 2-5 in Los Angeles, with pre-conference sessions scheduled for September 30 and October 1. MIX07 is geared more towards Web developers, designers, online advertising professionals and a broad set of partners and customers. MIX07 will be held April 30-May 2 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Visit msdn.microsoft.com/events/pdc or visitmix.com for more information.

MSDN Library

A new update of the MSDN Library will be included as part of your upcoming February shipment. In addition, as we continue to shift to content-driven updates from time-based updates, we will soon begin offering more localized editions of the MSDN Library to further support the needs of our international developer audience. Watch for French, German, Italian, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese language versions of the MSDN Library coming soon.

We Goofed! (Updated)

As I was putting together today’s blog post, an alert subscriber emailed indicating that DVD 2429.5 from the January DVD media shipments is missing the CD ISO image for Windows Vista (English) - Disc 5. We’re in the process of correcting this on our end and anticipate sending an updated disc to affected DVD subscribers in the March 2007 shipment. In the interim, please obtain this ISO image from MSDN Subscriber Downloads or use the full installation DVD contained on DVD 3707 also in your January DVD media shipment. We regret the error and inconvenience.

Update: DVD 2438.8 from the January DVD media shipments is missing the CD ISO image for Windows Vista (German) - Disc 5. As with the English image above, please obtain the German ISO image from MSDN Subscriber Downloads or use the full installation contained on DVD 3711.

CD Media Discontinuation

As previously announced, with the number of new releases being released by Microsoft on DVD media only, MSDN CD media subscriptions will begin converting to DVD media subscriptions this year. Regional implementation will begin in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in February 2007, followed by North and South America in July 2007, with implementation for Asia and the Pacific region anticipated in late 2007. Existing CD media subscribers will be automatically transitioned to DVD media for the remainder of their subscription term to ensure that they receive the broadest selection of software media available. For your convenience, MSDN Subscriptions will continue to maintain ISO images of CD-based software releases on MSDN Subscriber Downloads.

On behalf of the MSDN Subscriptions team, I wish you all the best for a happy and healthy 2007.

Best regards,

Seth Adams
